The Peaks of Otter was once thought to be the highest peak in the state of Virginia, so much that they placed a piece of it in the top of the Washingtom Monument in Washington D.C. This is a great place to go hiking, it is a very novice trail with a bus for the handicapped or obese that cannot make the hike. I go here often for good excercise, the peak also has an old cabin for shelter if you get caught in a rainstorm while hiking. There is also a lodge and a very nice restaurant at the base of the mountain. Virtualtourist.com User

This Memorial is very humbling if you know anything about the events of D-Day. Each allied country has a representative flag and plaque here, and there are staues of soldiers, both fallen and attacking, on a beach with underwater air bursts simulating the German bullets flying at the troops as they attempt to storm the beach and climb up the cliffs at Normandy. There is also an Eisenhower statue to the rear of the beach area, with some acutal artifacts from vessels that carried the troops that fateful day. Virtualtourist.com User

Jefferson Center presents Arturo Sandoval

January 24th, 2009

Jefferson Center presents Arturo SandovalLatin jazz sizzles on stage with the alluring Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval. Equally gifted as a performer and entertainer, the vibrant and unpredictable Sandoval is likely to play piano, scat a jaw-dropping solo, and even pitch in on percussion. He’s impressed the world by interweaving bop-flavored flurries way up in the trumpet's highest register with a subtle sense of swing. "Arturo Sandoval is the sort of virtuoso artist who comes along only once or twice in a generation." - London Evening Star "... arguably the most prodigious trumpeter of his generation.., a showman to the tips of his toes.., imperiously and dashingly in charge of the resources of his trumpet." - The Guardian More about Jefferson Center presents Arturo Sandoval
